How do Blinds work?
Window Blind is probably one of the items that you use every day. The technique of blinds is hidden on the top of it. Today I will solve some of the mysteries about how blind works such as:
• what happened when you spin the wand?
• what happened when you will pull on the string?
• why does it matter that you have to pull the strings to the left or to the right?
The Horizontal Blind is one of the most common types of blind. The slat that was used is usually built with materials such as wood, vinyl, aluminium, PVC, or plastic.
The strings are known as the lift strings. They will go up and come back down throughout the holes in every slat. By pulling the strings down, the blinds will lift up.
In the left side of the blinds (right side when you’re facing it), you will find the “Wand”, a thin light-weighted rod. If you twist it, the slats will go around. For the best reviews on blinds please check our article on Hampton Bay Blinds
These blades rest in support rungs, which helps to rotate them and to give them evenly space apart from the nest slats.
On top of the blinds, you will see the front board called valance. You can also see the valance clip and the two end stiffeners.
The headrails are the houses for inner workings of the windows blinds. This two lift-strings will go right through the bottom along the inside, and one string goes down to the middle, and the other string goes down to the other side.
For larger window blinds, we might need three or more strings. These string each go to the holes of the stats. And then they’re tied off at the very bottom.
When the lift strings are pulled, the slats start to rise. It is important to pill the strings at the same time. Missing the other strings will make a lopsided blind. Many examples of blinds can be found at Home Depot
If we want our blinds to stay up, we pull the cords to the outer side of the blinds. If the cords are over the blinds and we let it go, blinds will come right back down.
So, why does moving the cord to the left or right even matter?
The secret is in the cord lock, it can be found in the right side of the blind (left side if you are facing it). Both of the strings go up through the hole in the bottom where there are two rollers. The large roller is then fixed in its place. It will spin as the strings goes over. On the other hand, the small roller can slide up and down. Notice that the small roller has rough texture on it.
How it works?
So, we pull the string first and the blinds go up, when we are done pulling, we will move the string away from the blinds and then release the cord. As we’re doing this, the friction against the small roller causes it to slide up, which will then pinch the strings. Now it stuck, which is why our blinds is held up.
When we want to let the blinds down, move the cord to the centre of the blinds. Pull the string just a little, in that way the small roller comes down, and then release the string and watch as the blinds go all the way down.
