Hi I'm Robert Herdan with West Oaks Tile. And I'm going to show you how to wire a light fixture. The tools we'll need for this job are a Phillips head screwdriver, a flat head screwdriver, a pair of wire cutters, and needle nose pliers. Okay so the first thing you want to do before you actually start wiring the light fixture is make sure the power at the wall is turned off, which you can do when the light is still up. You can see that the light is off. But in electricity sometimes they have what they call a loop circuit so there could possibly still be a live wire. So you need to have an electric power tester. This one I have is very small and it's easy. It needs to have two little prong leads so that you can insert them without actually having to disconnect anything. So what all I want to do here is I'm going to take this and I'm going to insert the black lead into the black probe and the red lead into the white probe. And I can see that there's no light on so now I know there's no power here. Okay now that we have tested our wires and we can see that there's no power going to it, it is now safe for us to continue. Now I have already brought the new wires up through the junction box here. Now this side here is marked with a little white spot which is showing us that this goes to our white wires. And we will go ahead and mount that. So I'll take the little wire nut off and now I'm putting it back on. And when you are doing this you want to make sure that you, you will feel it get tight. Once it gets tight and you got it tight then you want to make sure by pulling on the wire that nothing is loose. Because you are going to shove these back in there when you are done and you don't want the wire to pop out on you. Because then the light won't work. It could possibly short out and cause a fire. So all you have to do is just make sure that it is properly attached and that none of those things will happen. So again you take the wire nut and you put it on the other side our the black wire and you just spin it till it's nice and tight. Then check once again that the wire isn't coming again then you'll know you're secure. At that point what we are going to do is we are going to take our wires and we are going to push them back up into our junction box here. And I'll push the white wires back up into the junction box here. And then once again just go ahead and check and make sure everything looks wired and nothing is loose.
